After doing a list on all the attackers who have won the most prestigious award that could be presented to a footballer, it is time to do the list on players who have won it playing as a midfielder, defender or a goalkeeper. The position includes all varieties of midfield as an attacking, central or defensive midfielder, even a left midfielder has won it. Luka Modric is the recent Footballer who has broken the decade long dominance of Ronaldo and Messi and won it as a non-forward playing as a Central Midfielder. The only goalkeeper to win this award. Also known as ‘Black Spider’ for his great reflexes. He is the best goalkeeper of the 20th century. Has saved 150 penalties and had 270 clean sheets in his professional career.

Though the Ballon d’Or award has been controversial sometimes, it is easily the most loved and widely accepted prize given to a footballer.
