The Best Premier League XI ever….(Goalkeepers Modern Era)

Of course, I am not going to go back in the past that much. This list will be directly based on the teams which I have seen growing up or have heard of recently. So, the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Ronaldo, Rooney, and others might be on our list. First, we have to pick a formation under which we are going to decide the 11 best players. Though, it is possible that we might include players on positions that might not be their first choice positions. Here is our list for the best premier league xi ever goalkeepers.

We have to pick 4 at back. Premier League football is boring if you do not include the full-backs. So, we will go with 4-1-4-1 formation.let’s start with the best goalkeeper.

Goalkeepers :

Though, all legendary panels debating on either BT Sport, BR, and Espn would say Schmeichel. But, we haven’t seen him at all and we have other legendary options. My first pick would be the inspiration for all young goalkeepers.

Edwin van der sar

‘The Flying Dutchman’ who has the following records :

.50 clean sheets in Ucl. Though, there are likes of Casillas. But, still, 50 clean sheets are unimaginable and he has played for Ajax, Juventus and Manchester United,3 top clubs.

.Ucl with two clubs. First, he won when he was too young with ajax. As they have shown what they can do even today. Then, at the end of his career, he won with that prime Manchester United team.

.Longevity – He is the oldest player to win EPL. (40 yrs) and also the oldest to win UCL(37 yrs).Has won 25 major trophies. 2nd in a list of most decorated goalkeepers.

.Unbreakable – He holds the record for most minutes without conceding a league goal during the 2008-09 campaign which lasted till 14 consecutive games. (1311 minutes) 42 percent save ratio. Over 100 clean sheets.

.National Prowess – along with another great Casillas, he holds record for most clean sheets at UEFA euro (9)

.Fifa Toty – 5 times from 2006 to 2011.also,EPL toty thrice. 2008 uefa euro team of the tournament. 4 premier leagues.

a tough contender for the pick of the best premier league xi ever goalkeepers.

Petr Cech :

He deserves credit like Van der Sar. Even in terms of longevity, he is playing his last season with arsenal now. And In Epl he deserves to be no. 1.

  • Most clean sheets in a season – 24
  • Most clean sheets in Epl – 202 (till now)
  • The first keeper to go 10 games without conceding a goal. (only behind van der Sar)
  • Has won 4 league titles, 5 fa cups, 1 champions league, 1 Europa League.
  • 45 percent save ratio.
  • Multiple golden gloves

Pepe Reina :

Has won everything,1 Champions league, fa cup and all. He wasn’t a regular keeper for Spain and did not do well after he left Liverpool. But, he should be considered as one of the modern greats. He has had 20 clean sheets in a season. He has won 3 golden gloves consecutively in an era dominated by van der Sar and Petr Cech. He has a 47 percent save ratio. 100 clean sheets.

another well-deserved nominee for the pick of the best premier league xi ever goalkeepers.

Joe Hart

He had a successful run with City. He has a record of 4 golden gloves. (3 in succession) Has been a premier league winner, also has won fa cup. 100 clean sheets as well.

De Gea

still, a long way to go. But, what we have witnessed in the last few years is remarkable. He is amazing in air, spider reflexes, and punches. He has everything. He could go on to become the greatest ever. He has won 2 Europa leagues and a premier league in his career. He also has a Fa cup. If United could make good signings this summer, they can definitely rely on him at the back. He also has a golden glove and a few EPL toty. Also Many Man United player of the year.

Our no. 1 pick is : Petr Cech

In the next list, we will talk about the defenders who should make our list. Since it is not possible to do all positions in one article!
